When students take their first trip to Europe, they normally travel through London and Paris. They are both such mega tourist destinations and there is so much to see in both cities. With there being so much to see and do, the question becomes, what are the best things to see? You normally won’t have the time, or the money, to see everything, so you want to make sure you see the best things. So here we go...
Fun things to do in London: London is full of fun and historical things to see. Some must-see historical sites are Big Ben, the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, and Westminster Abbey. These iconic buildings are full of historical significance and are great to see up close. If you can step a bit outside London, also go see Windsor Castle, as it is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. You can take tours inside the castle to see the many amazing State Apartments.
Other sites to see in London are Hyde Park, Trafalgar Square, Tate Modern, Covent Garden, Leicester Square, and Piccadilly Circus. You have to see at least a couple of these sites as they are a big part of London culture. Taking a double-decker bus tour is also a great way to view the city’s sites.
Fun things to do in Paris: I will start with the obvious here. Every visitor must go up the Eiffel Tower, tour the Louvre, and walk along the Champs Elysees. Other must-sees are the Jardins de Tuileries, Notre Dame, The Palace of Versailles, and Montmartre. Another great way to spend some time in Paris is by wandering through a Parisian market. I also highly recommend seeing the Moulin Rouge Cabaret. Paris is full of wonderful things to do, even if you just spend a day strolling through the streets and eating at a café.
